WHY YOGA?

What are the benefits to a regular yoga practice?

We all know yoga is supposed to be good for us - but how can attending a yoga class regularly actually make you feel better? I’ve come up with a list of questions, as well as a bit of a guide of what you can expect from yoga.
If you have a question that I have missed, please reach out I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Why Yoga?: FAQ

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A YOGA CLASS?

What can you expect from a yoga class with me? We start with breathing - it's a chance to switch off from the every day stress, and to allow yourself to just be.

The class movements are a mixture of stretching, balancing and strength building - with seated and standing postures throughout the class. We usually work towards one centralised theme, and each class is unique.

Many of my classes work towards some fun, playful postures, either balancing on the hands in some way, or getting upside down - but these are all just ways to play with our movement, and it's all optional!

I'VE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE - HOW CAN I START?

All classes are structured to be friendly to all abilities - the amazing thing about yoga, is that you can take things as slow and gentle as you like - don't like a posture? You can take a break!
Yoga is, and should be, accessible to everyone, the best way to start, is to take the plunge, book your first class! We were all beginners once, and there's no better time than now to begin.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF YOGA?

With yoga, there's mind, and there's body.
Physically, the benefits are reduced injury, and recovery from and management of injury and pain, as well as increased flexibility and control.
Mentally, it's an even more diverse game - not only do you gain more control over your 'monkey mind', helping you to reduce anxious thought cycles, but it's an amazing way to completely switch off, and to gain amazing tools that help you throughout your daily life.

DO I HAVE TO BRING ANY EQUIPMENT WITH ME?

If you're attending one of my studio based classes, mats are always provided.
If you are booking for a private class, or for corporate or schools yoga, please message me to discuss which yoga props can be provided by me.

I'M NOT FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO DO YOGA!

Okay so while this one is obviously not  a question - I hear this one a lot.
You may be naturally a little less stretchy than some - but the only way we improve that is by dedicating time and energy to it.
A weekly or daily practice is an incredible step to creating a more flexible and resilient body that is less prone to injuries - so if it's something you want to work toward, there is no better time to start!
